Integrated Weed Management Studies for Autumn Planted Maize

چکیده
A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the integrated effect of weed control practices on the weed control efficiency, growth and yield of autumn planted maize (Zea mays L.) under agroecological conditions of Faisalabad. Treatments comprised manual hoeing and earthing up alone and in combination with metolachlor + atrazine @1110+740 g a.i.ha; manual hoeing + earthing up, metolachlor + atrazine @1110+740 g a.i.ha, acetachlore @ 618 g a.i.ha alongwith weedy check as control. The maximum plant height (213 cm), cob length (16.43 cm), number of cobs per plant (1.53), number of grains per cob (586.33), 1000grain weight (75.49 g) maximum weed control efficiency at harvest, 30 and 60 days after sowing, and grain yield (4.90 t ha) were recorded for manual hoeing along with metalachlor + atrazine @1110+740 g a.i.ha.

Weed Dynamics during Transition to Conservation Agriculture in Western Kenya Maize Production
Weed competition is a significant problem in maize (Zea mays, L.) production in Sub-Saharan Africa. Better understanding of weed management and costs in maize intercropped with beans (Phaseolus vulgaris, L.) during transition to conservation agricultural systems is needed. Changes in weed population and maize growth were assessed for a period of three years at Bungoma where crops are grown twic...

The adoption of genetically modified (GM) crops has increased dramatically during the last 3 years, and currently over 52 million hectares of GM crops are planted world-wide. Approximately 41 million hectares of GM crops planted are herbicide-resistant crops, which includes an estimated 33.3 million hectares of herbicide-resistant soybean. Herbicide-resistant maize, canola, cotton and soybean a...

متن کاملFertility and Weed Stress Effects on Performance of Maize/Soybean Intercrop
Intercropped corn (Zeu mays L.) and soybean [Glycine mux (L.) Merr.] may produce more total yield per hectare than either grown separately, ie., land equivalent ratio (LER) >l. Low N fertility, limited moisture, and weed competition have each been reported to result in high land equivalent ratios. Thus it was hypothesized that intercropping advantages were greater under stress conditions. The o...
